A team of young innovators from Oradea has achieved what until recently seemed impossible: the development of a device capable of detecting medical risks in real time and saving lives by automatically alerting emergency services. Thanks to this revolutionary solution, the team was enrolled in the "100 Youngsters for the Development of Romania" campaign, 2025 edition, run at national level by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania

The starting point of the project was the lack of an affordable, smart and wearable device that could react quickly in critical situations. "Save My Life" promises to become just that: a smart bracelet that can automatically call 112, transmit vital data about the wearer's condition and instantly notify family in case of danger.

The idea started with a simple but vital question: How can we reduce the time between a medical incident and actual intervention? For the team, the answer came through integrated technology, advanced algorithms and an interdisciplinary approach. In the early phase, the youngsters tested pulse sensors of different types, analyzing their accuracy and reliability. They explored hardware performance, technical limitations and possibilities for internal improvement, to build a solution that would be error-free in moments when life depends on a fraction of a second. Today, the project is at an advanced stage of research and development: the sensor systems are being optimized, the communication module is being integrated, the wristband case is being 3D prototyped, and the next step is to build the first operational prototype with all functions calibrated.

"Save My Life" is a smart medical safety concept that connects the user, doctors and family in the most efficient way possible. The smart bracelet integrates, in a single system, functionalities that no other Romanian wearable device has brought together so far: automatic 112 call, triggered either by an emergency button or by detecting cardiac abnormalities, continuous pulse monitoring with real-time analysis for heart attack prevention, fall detection and immediate alerting of emergency services, digital transmission of medical records directly to dispatch for fast and personalized interventions, sending instant alerts to family members with GPS location, and a full mobile app for data and medical profile management. All integrated in an ergonomic design, designed for comfort and compatibility with users of all ages.

The strength of the project comes from the diversity of skills of its members. The team brings together students and graduates from different fields of the University of Oradea - engineering, mathematics, medicine, computer science and automation: Paul Bondici - Leader, Founder, Hardware & Software Developer; Oana Bondici - Speaker, Student of Dental Medicine, University of Oradea; Iulia Ilea - Fundraiser & HR Manager, student of Medicine; Radu Buboiu - 3D Model Designer & Hardware Specialist and fourth year student at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, specialization General Medicine; Antonio Maniura - Hardware & Automation Engineer; Antoniu Novac - Student of Software Networking, Telecommunications and Law. Their diversity is the key that allows the project to evolve quickly and cover all levels - from algorithms and prototyping to medical validation and risk analysis.

"Save My Life" has already gained interest in competitions, participating for two consecutive years at Innovation Labs Timisoara, and at the SAS UO Competition at the University of Oradea it won first place.

The young people want to see the project through and turn the concept into a widely available product. Their dream is clear: To create a Romanian device that's affordable, intuitive and smart enough to save your life when you can no longer call for help. A smart bracelet capable of reducing medical intervention time could mean thousands of lives saved and a major step towards digitizing emergency services.
