The Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania supports the 2025 edition of the International Conference on Molecular Biology: Current Aspects and Prospects (ICMB 2025), one of the most important academic events dedicated to molecular biology in Central and Eastern Europe. The event will take place between November 4 and 7, 2025, at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, bringing together leading researchers from Romania and abroad. This year's edition brings Sir Dr. Tim Hunt, winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine, back to Romania, marking ten years since the first edition of the conference. His presence confirms the international prestige of the ICMB and the strategic role that Cluj is gaining in the global research network.
The conference will bring together over 400 participants, along with 80 guest researchers and professors from 19 countries, who will present recent findings in fields with a major impact on the future of medicine:
- Epigenetics and gene expression regulation
- Host–pathogen interaction and advanced immunological mechanisms
- Molecular physiology of complex organisms
- Molecular pathways involved in oncogenesis and emerging therapies
International speakers include:
- Dr. Mihai Netea, renowned immunologist at Radboud University Medical Center, Netherlands;
- Dr. Simona Răduțoiu, specialist in the biology of plant–microorganism interactions, Aarhus University, Denmark;
- Dr. Ute Krämer, researcher in plant molecular physiology, Ruhr University Bochum, Germany.
Accompanying them will be Andreea Delia Coman, Medical Center Director, Neurofeedback Therapist, and Clinical Psychologist, who will lead the workshop: "Cellular longevity and functional mapping of the human body: the Longevity Map model – a new paradigm of integrative diagnosis between cell, system, and consciousness," presenting one of the projects of the Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania.
The workshop proposes a model that integrates the cellular level (mitochondrial metabolism, neurophysiology, oxidative stress) with the systemic level (neuroendocrine, immune, and autonomic networks of the body). Through Longevity Map analysis, early dysfunctions that anticipate metabolic and neural regulation disorders can be identified, providing a holistic approach to assessing health and the aging process.
The conference is held with the support of Babeș-Bolyai University, Faculty of Biology and Geology, the main partner of the event, and is included in the Smart Diaspora program as a satellite event. By supporting ICMB, the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania continues its mission to promote scientific excellence, support young researchers, and contribute to the creation of a Romanian scientific network with international visibility.
