The only Romanian student with a double international qualification in physics and computer science, joins the campaign "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" - 2025 edition

Rareș Felix Tudose, a young man who is forging a new path in Romania's education system, has become the latest participant in the "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" campaign, marking its 2025 edition. The Ministry of Education has distinguished Rareș for his unique achievement of representing the country at five international competitions in a single year. He is the first Romanian student to qualify simultaneously for the international physics and computer science teams. Rareș has been awarded gold, silver and bronze medals at a number of prestigious Olympiads, including the European Physics Olympiad, the Asian Physics Olympiad, the International Olympiad in Informatics and the Central European Olympiad in Informatics. These accolades serve to confirm an exceptional career in an elite field.

At the age of 18, Rareș has already achieved a remarkable level of success in competitive physics, having secured gold at the Asian Physics Olympiad (Malaysia, 2024), absolute gold at the European Physics Olympiad (Kutaisi, Georgia, 2024), and two silver medals at the International Physics Olympiad (Isfahan, Iran, 2024 and Tokyo, Japan, 2023). It is evident that Rareș's achievements have served to position Romania on the global map of excellence in the exact sciences. In addition to his achievements in the field of physics, Rareș has also demonstrated remarkable aptitude in the realm of computer science, as evidenced by his accolades: gold at the International Advanced Informatics Tournament (IATI) in Shumen, Bulgaria, 2024; bronze medals at the International Informatics Olympiad in Egypt, 2024; and at the Central European Informatics Olympiad in Brno, Czech Republic, 2024. In 2023, he achieved second place and was awarded the gold medal at the Romanian Master of Informatics, a prestigious European competition in this field.

Rareș's initiation into the realm of Olympiads occurred during his childhood, at the tender age of nine, when he exhibited a steadfast daily determination to locate a computer science instructor. This profound desire for knowledge has been instrumental in propelling a remarkable journey, commencing from the moment he qualified for the National Informatics Olympiad in the fourth grade, and culminating in the extraordinary feat of securing simultaneous qualifications in both the national physics and informatics teams. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as it is the first of its kind in Romania. His academic trajectory has been distinguished by noteworthy achievements and unwavering dedication, as evidenced by his successful navigation of challenging selection processes, his participation in global competitions with the most accomplished students worldwide, and his decision to pursue his secondary education at the International Computer High School of Bucharest. In order to access an educational environment that would support his growth and provide him with the resources to reach his potential, he relocated from Târgu Mureș with his family.

In addition to his noteworthy achievements in competitive arenas, Rareș has demonstrated a consistent commitment to fostering an academic community. He has organised "Computer Science Stars", a programming competition for younger students, taught physics and computer science to younger colleagues and proposed problems for international Olympiads. Rareș's merits were confirmed not only by the medals he was awarded, but also by his admission to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on 14 March 2025. MIT is widely regarded as one of the world's most prestigious universities, and it is a place that Rareș had been aspiring to attend since childhood.

By joining the campaign "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" - 2025 edition, Rareș Felix Tudose becomes an inspiring role model for the whole young generation. His story proves that genuine passion, hard work and the courage to dream can transform a child's destiny into a real contribution to the future of an entire country.
