The national anti-drug campaign "Aware, not addicted", run by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania, continues its mission of information and prevention among young people, parents and teachers through a new series of educational meetings organized in several cities in the country.
From March 17 to 19, the anti-drug campaign "Aware, not addicted" will reach Turda, Baia Mare and Blaj, where high school students, teachers and parents will have the opportunity to participate in direct dialogues with specialists about the real risks of drug use and how to prevent this growing phenomenon among teenagers.
The first action is scheduled in Turda on March 17, followed by Baia Mare on March 18, and the series of meetings will end in Blaj on March 19. In each of these cities, discussions will be led by anti-drug expert Cătălin Țone and psychologist Gabriela Maalouf, a representative of the foundation.
The two specialists will approach drug use from complementary perspectives. Cătălin Țone will explain to young people, parents and teachers the legal and medical consequences of the use of banned substances, debunking myths commonly found in the public space. In parallel, Gabriela Maalouf, psychologist from the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania, will discuss emotional pressures, peer influence and the role of communication between parents and children in preventing addiction.
The need for such interventions is increasingly evident. Specialists point out that the age of onset of drug use has dropped alarmingly, with some people starting before the age of 13. In this context, prevention is one of the most important weapons against this phenomenon. At the meetings, participants will receive guides and educational materials produced by specialists, which provide concrete information about the early signs of drug use, risk factors and steps that can be taken for intervention.
Between February 10-17, a series of actions took place within the "Aware, not addicted" campaign in the cities of Botoșani, Iași, Suceava, Rădăuți. By extending this caravan to more and more communities, the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania aims to bring the anti-drug message directly to where it is most needed: in schools and in the dialog between young people, teachers and parents. The experience of European prevention programs shows that correct information, open communication and community involvement can significantly reduce the risk of substance use.
The new phase of the "Aware, not addicted" campaign confirms a simple principle: the fight against drugs starts with education and the power to make healthy choices.
