Summer is not just about holidays, but also about valuable opportunities for learning and personal development. The Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania supports innovative summer educational activities and initiatives involving children and teenagers. One example is the ‘JAPANCAMP Japanese Urban Camp,’ organised by Sakura Japanese School, the largest private school for Japanese language and culture in Romania.
The camp, intended for children aged 7 to 17, will take place at the Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum in Bucharest, from 23 to 27 June 2025, between 9:00 and 18:00. Over the course of five days, participants will immerse themselves in the fascinating world of Japan, alongside certified Japanese teachers from SAKURA, through a programme rich in educational and creative activities. Among the activities on offered are: anime screenings, a traditional tea ceremony, Japanese calligraphy, an anime trivia contest, karate demonstrations and introductory lessons, Japanese cooking workshops, the art of gift wrapping (furoshiki), origami and magic, Tanabata, Soroban, cultural explorations and a treasure hunt.
Each activity aims to stimulate children's curiosity, creativity and team spirit in an interactive and multicultural environment. The Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania offers lucky children the chance to participate in this camp free of charge through a competition held on its official Facebook page. The Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania promotes a model of continuous education tailored to the interests and passions of today's children. When recreational activities are combined with educational ones, young people acquire not only new knowledge, but also social, cultural and emotional skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.
