The story of the young Romanian pianist admitted to the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Daniel Dumitrașcu, enrolled in the "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" campaign

The sound of a piano can tell more beautiful stories than the most elaborate words. Each note played by the young Romanian pianist Daniel Dumitrașcu seems to bring with it a whole odyssey of passion and talent. Today, Daniel has conquered the great stages of the world and has been enrolled in the "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" campaign.

At the age of just 6, Daniel discovered his passion for the piano, feeling that every touch of the keyboard carried him into a magical world where sound finds its voice. He debuted as a soloist at the age of 16 with the "Paul Constantinescu" Philharmonic Orchestra in Ploiesti, playing under orchestra conductors such as Tiberiu Soare, Cristian Spătaru, Riku Okamoto, Alexandru Ganea.

The years have passed and his talent has shone stronger every year. He conquered the stage of the International Musical de France competition, winning First Prize in 2019. Since then, his sound has travelled beyond borders, bringing with it recognition and admiration.

At the age of 6, I had an unexpected chance. My parents wanted to enrol me in personal development courses, and the secretary of the Palace of Culture in Ploiesti suggested we try an instrument, for example the piano. She took me to a room, I sat down at the piano and started playing with both hands, using all my fingers. Amazement on her face and the conclusion: he must study the piano. She said that it was rare for a child to use both hands at the first touch of the instrument. Then we started to get to know each other, me and the piano, to become friends and I realized in time that this is what makes me happy and fulfils me", says Daniel.

But Daniel's road to excellence didn't stop there. In 2012, in Paris, he won the Special Jury Prize at the International Grand Music Interprets Competition, confirming not only his talent, but also the dedication and hard work he puts into every note. Furthermore, Daniel was a laureate of the International Orbetello Piano Competition in Tuscany, Italy, and was admitted to the Isa Kammermusik Sommerakademie in Germany. In 2022, he makes his debut at the famous Salle Cortot, Paris, at the Académie Internationalle de Musique de Paris.

Daniel also performs regularly in recitals as a solo pianist, in chamber music groups and as an accompanist, performing on stages in Romania, France, Italy, Greece, Austria, Holland, Denmark and Germany. Over the years he has had the opportunity to study and participate in masterclasses with renowned pianists such as Dirk Mommertz, Marianna Shirinyan, Josu de Solaun, Roland Präll, Thomas Bockheller, Diana Ketler, Tobias Haunhorst or Csiki Boldizsar.

The pinnacle of his success came when, with his heart full of music and open to new horizons, Daniel was admitted to the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen, Denmark. The result was astounding: 12 points out of a possible 12, a triumph that put him at the top of the rankings and established him as the only candidate with such an impeccable result.

Success is the result of hard work and intense study, closely linked to talent and feeling. I don't know if there is such a thing as musical perfection. It can be a high level of musical understanding and interpretation, but I always think there is room for more", says the young pianist.

Daniel Dumitrașcu is not only a talented pianist, but also a young man dedicated to developing and promoting Romania abroad. Thus, his entry in the "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" campaign, launched by Dan Voiculescu Foundation for Romania's Development, brings a touch of inspiration to the country's cultural and educational landscape.

With every chord played with passion and every award won with dedication, Daniel Dumitrașcu is a living example of the extraordinary potential of young Romanians in the world of music and beyond. His path is one full of sacrifice, perseverance and dedication, and his sound is a living story of the aspirations and dreams he shares around the world. Daniel not only sings, but also inspires, bringing new light to the young Romanian generation.
