In today's world dominated by algorithms and robots, four Romanian students have proved that the future can be built right here in Romania - and that performance is no respecter of geography. The young members of Team Romania 2025 have succeeded in putting our country on the map of the global robotics elite and have shown that performance can start from any corner of the country, when there is courage, hard work and vision. Team Romania 2025, made up of Filipe Meneses-Grigoriu, Diana Trâmbițaș, Dragoș Vasile and Cătălin Broscoi, students of the "Mihai Viteazul" National High School in Turda, active members of the CyberPunk Robotics club, coordinated by mentor Annamaria Pop and team-manager Cristian Vlăsceanu, represented Romania at the FIRST Global Robotics Olympiad FIRST Global Challenge 2025, held in Panama, Central America - one of the most prestigious international STEM competitions, which annually gathers over 190 teams from all continents.
Their participation in Panama was a demonstration of intelligence, innovation and teamwork. Team Romania 2025 stood out with exceptional results, winning three important international distinctions: the Gold Medal - Katherine Johnson Award for Engineering Documentation, for excellence in design, technical innovation and documentation - a trophy reserved for teams able to compete at world-leading standards; the Social Media Challenge Award, for the way they communicated science in a way that everyone can understand and built a community around Romanian technology; the Honourable Mention - Video Storytelling Award, for the ability to turn technology into an inspiring story. These awards confirm that Romanian education produces not only valuable competitors, but ambassadors of a generation for whom performance is a way of life and innovation a responsibility.
Behind the results are personal sacrifice, volunteering and hundreds of hours of design, testing and programming. They have created globally competitive technology from a high-school improvised laboratory, demonstrating that excellence can be learned and performance can be trained. Through their story, these young people confirm the mission of the national campaign "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development", 2025 edition, run by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania: to discover, support and promote young people with high potential, capable of generating real role models for society.
Team Romania 2025 represents Romania with dignity, excellence and vision, providing clear proof that young Romanians can compete and win alongside the best in the world.
