The young Romanian who is revolutionizing space travel, on his way to NASA and in the "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" campaign

Antonio Florin Iordache was born with the aspiration of achieving great things and of revolutionising space travel. Over the years, he has transformed his enthusiasm for space exploration into a series of innovative projects. Currently, Antonio Florin Iordache is a student in the eleventh grade at the "Jean Monnet" High School in Bucharest and the founder of the Aerospace Engineering Club. The young researcher achieved fourth place in the International Competition "National Space Society - NASA Space Settlement Contest" and has recently joined the campaign "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development".

In excess of 29,000 students were involved in 5,200 distinct projects from 28 countries worldwide. The objective of the competition was to devise a space station that would facilitate life in space. The competition spanned several months, commencing in September 2023 and concluding on 15 February 2024. Antonio Florin Iordache's studies have resulted in significant and innovative contributions to the field. The young prodigy succeeded in constructing a bullet-shaped vessel, with the intention of transforming a phenomenon that currently has a detrimental impact on humanity into a beneficial one. The shape of the ship allows for efficient propulsion in space and a perfect rotation of less than two rotations per minute, which generates artificial gravity at an optimal level. Additionally, Antonio Florin introduced the concept of "Efficiency Gardens" to streamline the process of collecting and processing food for consumption on the ship. In these greenhouses, plants will be planted vertically in cacti-shaped support pots, which will ensure the production of vegetables on a monthly basis, generating in excess of 20 million calories per day. This will meet the nutritional requirements of every human. Furthermore, the greenhouses will provide UV light and heat, utilising powerful radiators that are powered directly from the ship's main nuclear reactor.

As part of the project, Antonio Florin has developed a novel intelligent system for the management of water, obtained from the M734 hydrocarbon collector through the heavy filtration of hydrogen and nitrogen found on Titan. This water can then be consumed and re-filtered for reuse in the near future. Additionally, he has devised a system for the filtration of human waste, thereby preventing the wastage of water in this context.

Antonio Florin Iordache will be participating in the final stage of this project, which involves physical participation at the ISDC International Conference in Los Angeles, California, from 22-26 May 2024. Participating in this conference, which adheres to international standards, affords the opportunity to be evaluated by professors and experts in the field. At this conference, he will have the opportunity to communicate directly with students from around the world who have demonstrated an understanding of space and the physical phenomena necessary to sustain life.

By joining the campaign "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development", launched by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania, Antonio Florin showed that he wants to contribute to the progress of society, to inspire other young people to follow their passions and get involved in changing their country for the better.

The "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" campaign was initiated with the intention of fostering national unity and identity. Its objective is to highlight the accomplishments of the most distinguished children and young people in Romania, who have achieved renown at the national and international levels through their passion, dedication, and talent. The inaugural catalogue of Romanian excellence, which will be launched at the end of this year, will include the 100 young people who have distinguished themselves through outstanding performances and who make us proud to be Romanian.
