UPDATE: Given the large number of applications, Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania will start the first testing session on 18 April 2024, with testing sessions taking place every Thursday except 2 May 2024.
Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania kicks off the 2024 edition of the "Preschool Olympics", the only national campaign dedicated to identifying and recognizing early talent across the country. This unique competition is dedicated to children between 3 and 6 years of age, in state or private kindergartens in Romania, in order to develop their skills and abilities acquired up to this age.
Early education plays a key role in the cognitive and social-emotional development of pre-schoolers. According to specialists, a child's mind must be stimulated from an early age in order to perform well in adulthood. Research has shown that the influence of the environment is decisive because people go through a process of mental development during childhood and adolescence, with inherited traits being less decisive than the impact of education and family environment.
Through the "Preschool Olympics" competition, FDVDR offers educators and parents an educational tool suitable for identifying children with high abilities in order to further develop educational practices appropriate to the needs and potential of these children. It proposes an innovative approach by combining exercises in logic, attention, concentration and reasoning.
The children's performances will be judged by a panel of experts in educational programmes for children, including a teacher, a psychologist and an educator. At the end of the competition, all children will receive electronic Participation Diplomas and those who obtain the highest score will receive Excellence Diplomas. The coordinating educators will also receive certificates. The national contest "Preschool Olympics" is part of the approved calendar of municipal educational activities (CAEM) of the Municipality of Bucharest.
To participate in the "Preschool Olympics", representatives of state or private preschool education institutions in Romania are invited to register by following the steps in the Official Rules and filling in the participation form.

The campaign runs from 29 March to 29 May and will include the following stages:
Stage I - Registration period: 29 March - 03 May
Stage II - Testing: 15 April - 17 May
Stage III - Evaluation of competition papers: 20 May - 27 May
Stage IV - Announcement of results: 29 May

Since its first edition in 2012, the "Preschool Olympics" has attracted more than 25,000 participants from all over the country, proving to be a success and contributing significantly to the socio-emotional and cognitive development of preschoolers.
