The National Geographic Learning Annual Conference, held on Saturday 6 May in Bucharest, attracted an impressive number of participants. Teachers from all over the country came to receive the latest information on learning from international experts, contributors to the prestigious National Geographic Learning publication.
The conference organised by Fischer International, in partnership with the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania, focused on debates about the latest findings of researchers studying learning skills, maximising communication skills in general, but also specifically in business.
Among the experts who gave lectures and initiated debates at the conference were Chia Suan Chong, world-renowned trainer, Flo Feast, author and trainer with experience in teaching and writing English language learning materials, and Gabriela Maalouf, psychologist and psychotherapist.
They discussed topical issues in the fields of learning and communication, such as what skills a young person needs to succeed professionally in an increasingly competitive world, or why it is important to know one's own skills and preferences when communicating in business, but also how important it is to develop personal skills such as empathy and introspection in order to better adapt in a world where individuals are progressing rapidly.
Although the organisers prepared for a maximum of 500 participants, interest in the conference was much higher, with over 1000 participants interested in the most effective methods for motivating teenagers, as well as innovative techniques for initiating discussions with strangers or mediating conflicts with colleagues or subordinates. Participation in the conference was free of charge.
