Romania continues to reconfirm its place on the world map of science Olympians through the results achieved by the young generation. In 2025, Raluca Enache brought our country a new victory at the IESO (International Earth Science Olympiad) in Jining, China - one of the most difficult and prestigious international competitions. The young Romanian won the gold medal in the ITFI (International Team Field Investigation) and the bronze medal in the individual events, in a competition that brings together the best teams in geology, geography, environmental sciences and related Earth disciplines every year. IESO is considered the ''Earth Olympiad'' - a global championship that challenges students to understand and explain complex processes, from resources and ecosystems to natural hazards and advanced geological processes.
Raluca's performance reinforces Romania's impressive results in international competitions and shows that our young people are ready to compete and win at a global level. Thanks to these exceptional results, Raluca Enache was enrolled in the campaign "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development", 2025 edition, run at national level by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania - a program that supports young people with high potential and achievements that generate impact for the future of the country.
A graduate of the "Emil Racoviță" National High School in Iași, Raluca is currently studying at the "Gheorghe Asachi" Technical University, Faculty of Automatics and Computers. Since her high school years, she chose to explore multiple fields of science - from geography, chemistry and interdisciplinary to technology - gradually accumulating results that have made her stand out in the Olympians' community.
In recent years, Raluca has constantly climbed the podium at the major national Olympiads: she won MEN mentions and special prizes of the Romanian Geography Society at the 2024 and 2025 editions of the National Geography Olympiad and the Interdisciplinary Olympiad "Earth Sciences". She represented the country at the same competition since 2023 and, previously, in 2022, she obtained the Second Prize and the qualification in the national enlarged lot at the "Junior Science" Olympiad, as well as MEN Mention and the prize for the best score in the practical test at the National Chemistry Olympiad. This string of results shows not only consistency, but a genuine curiosity and desire to understand, interdisciplinary, the mechanisms of the world we live in.
Although many know her by her academic achievements, Raluca speaks humbly about her background. She admits that it has always been hard for her to limit herself to just one field - she loves science, but she is also drawn to the arts: she paints, plays sports (volleyball, winter sports) and in the future she wants to study piano.
This versatility reflects an increasingly common profile among young performers: STEM minds, but with artistic sensibility, able to imagine technical solutions based on empathy and understanding of the world as a whole. In the long term, Raluca aims to contribute to interdisciplinary research projects and use the skills acquired as an engineer to develop solutions to modern society's problems: limited resources, climate change, sustainable technologies. Through her performance, Raluca Enache becomes not just a name in a ranking, but an example of determination, excellence and responsibility.
