educatie, scoala de vara 02023

Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania is currently running a comprehensive national education programme for students, entitled FDVDR Summer School. The programme is free of charge and complements the school curriculum, is aimed at children and young people aged 8-16 and runs for seven themed weeks from 10 July to 27 August.

This week, children and young people had the opportunity to learn about UNESCO National Heritage. They also understood the significance and importance of these traditions for communities and explored cultural practices related to food, crafts and folk crafts.

Romania's Heritage in UNESCO is one of the country's most precious cultural and natural treasures. It is listed as a World Heritage Site and is particularly important for the preservation and promotion of historical, architectural and traditional values. Also, their international recognition within UNESCO enhances tourism potential and promotes knowledge and understanding of Romanian culture worldwide.

"The aim of the lesson is to stimulate learners' interest in the importance of preserving and protecting cultural and natural heritage and to raise awareness of cultural and historical diversity around the world.

The lesson begins with a brief introduction to UNESCO, the United Nations specialized agency for Education, Science and Culture, created in 1945 to promote peace and cooperation among countries in these fields, and its major objectives, which include universal access to quality education, protection of humanity's cultural and natural heritage, support for freedom of the press and expression, support for scientific research, technological development and innovation to solve global problems, and the promotion of cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue to strengthen mutual understanding and respect among different peoples.

After this moment, aspects related to the notion of heritage and its various typologies (natural/cultural/immaterial) are discussed, followed by examples from Romania." says Codrin Tăut, expert in the Culture Commission of the UNESCO National Research Council and teacher in the FDVDR Summer School programme, UNESCO week.

Educating the younger generation about Romania's UNESCO Heritage is crucial for the preservation and appreciation of the country's cultural and natural heritage.

By knowing and understanding the value of these assets, young people develop a sense of belonging to their national history and identity. By learning about historical monuments, archaeological sites and authentic traditions, they become ambassadors of heritage, passing on this knowledge to future generations. Education in this field stimulates the spirit of conservation and protection of heritage, preventing the risk of irreparable loss of invaluable values for Romanian culture.„
