The Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania becomes a scientific partner of the International Congress of Medical Students in Craiova, one of the most important academic events dedicated to training future doctors. This year, the congress introduces for the first time the section "Longevity & Healthy Aging Science," dedicated to research on prolonging healthy life and preventing diseases associated with aging. Through this collaboration, the Foundation supports medical innovation and the active involvement of young people in research areas that have an impact on the future of public health.
This year's edition brings together from October 29 to November 2 hundreds of students and young researchers from 15 countries, along with prestigious professors and doctors from the international academic community. The event is organized by the Craiova Medical Students' Society and stands out for the diversity of topics and the quality of scientific presentations.
For the first time, through the partnership with the Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania, the scientific section "Longevity & Healthy Aging Science" was introduced at the congress - an essential area of research in a global context where prolonging healthy life and preventing age-related diseases are becoming strategic priorities in modern medicine. The participants presented original papers exploring new approaches to protecting the body from biological decline, optimizing lifestyle, and developing innovative medical interventions.
The works submitted in this section will be evaluated by the CIMSC jury together with representatives of the Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania, based on personal contribution, clarity, originality, and scientific value. Following the judging, the "Student Award - Innovation in Longevity" and "Resident Award - Innovation in Longevity" will be awarded, along with special mentions for projects with high application potential.
The presence of the "Longevity & Healthy Aging Science" section at CIMSC marks the consolidation of a major research and development direction supported by the Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania, a direction that will continue with the International Longevity Congress, scheduled for November 11, 2025, in Bucharest. The event will bring together international experts in preventive medicine, biomedical research, biotechnology, and public health policy, positioning Romania as an active player in the global network of longevity research centers.
