A first-of-its-kind tool in Romania for real-time monitoring of drug impact
The Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania is launching Romania's first interactive digital map dedicated to mapping, at national level, the number of drug use cases recorded in the last 5 years among young people under 25, providing a clear picture, county by county, of the scale and distribution of the phenomenon.
The campaign "Aware, not addicted", launched on June 26, the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, is a multidimensional initiative that takes place throughout the year in all counties of the country. It brings together professionals from the fields of education, health, psychology, and communication, as well as people who have overcome addiction, in a national support and prevention network.
By launching this interactive digital map, the Dan Voiculescu Foundation is adding an essential technological component to the national movement. It is providing a model that can be replicated and scaled up for other social campaigns with a broad territorial impact.
The data presented on the "Aware, not addicted" map refer to the number of admissions (medical cases) related to drug use among young people under 25 (at the time of admission) in the last 5 years.
The data are estimates based on information received from competent institutions at the request of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania. They reflect the number of minors and young people who sought specialised medical assistance or were admitted to emergency medical facilities.
