The CSH Timișoara robotics team has written one of the most important pages of Romanian performance in STEM education, after winning the Inspire Award - 1st place at FIRST Tech Challenge Romania, the largest high school competition in the field. The distinction, the most prestigious in the competition, confirms the team's excellence in all dimensions of evaluation: from design and technical performance to documentation and community impact, ensuring their qualification to the World Championship in Houston, Texas, USA. Following these outstanding results, they were included in the campaign "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development", run at national level by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania.
With a tradition of almost a decade in the FIRST Tech Challenge Romania competition, the team from the National Pedagogical College "Carmen Sylva" in Timișoara proves that performance is the result of a rigorous construction, sustained over time. For the second year in a row, CSH qualifies for the World Championship, consolidating an impressive international record. Last season's performances - 3rd place in the world, the role of captain of the winning alliance in the Franklin division, the Control Award - 2nd place at Houston 2025 and the Inspire Award - 2nd place at the national level - are now validated by another outstanding achievement.
Moreover, the team is positioning itself in the elite of robotics worldwide, achieving one of the highest scores recorded globally this season, placing them in the top 10 in the world - a clear indicator of their competitiveness and achieved technical level.
The 2026 edition of the World Championship in Houston is expected to be the most challenging ever: 336 teams from over 30 countries will enter the competition, in a context where the level of innovation and complexity is increasing year by year. For the CSH team, this stage is an opportunity to confirm that Romania can compete equally with the best teams in the world.
At a national level, the results achieved by CSH in 2026 outline the profile of a complete team: winning the Inspire Award - 1st Place, qualifying as the first Romanian team at the World Championship, with a clear advantage in advancement scoring, but also an outstanding strategic collaboration with the H-Tech team from Bucharest. The formed alliance managed to advance to the playoffs, taking 5th place in the Vlaicu Division, and one of the scores achieved in the competition is in the top 10 in the world this season. At the same time, the CSH team ranks 6th globally in the OPR rankings - a key indicator of consistent performance on the field.
Behind these results is a complex and well-structured team: 17 high school students, supported by 5 student mentors, 4 mentors, 2 alumni and 2 coordinating teachers - a community where passion for technology is combined with discipline, collaboration and long-term vision.
The performance of the CSH Timișoara team is not just a punctual success, but a proof that investing in education, mentoring and excellence can generate results that go beyond the borders of the country.
