Winners of the national competition "Ten Libraries Rated 10": a brand new book collection and modern furniture for 10 school libraries in Romania

Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania announces the 10 winners of the national contest "Ten Libraries Rated 10". As a result, 10 school libraries in Romania will receive a new collection of books and modern furniture to create comfortable and inspiring reading spaces.

The project was designed to provide support to libraries in schools and colleges across the country that are facing an acute shortage of new books or are in a critical situation. Hundreds of schools and high schools in Romania, which are facing a shortage of new books or do not have a library or dedicated reading spaces, entered the "Ten Libraries Rated 10" competition.

These are the 10 winners of the "Ten Libraries Rated 10" competition, chosen for their commitment to promoting culture and reading in their communities:

1. 125 Secondary School, Bucharest;
2. „Mircea Nedelciu” Secondary School, Fundulea, Călărași;
3. Lucieni Secondary School, Lucieni, Dâmbovița;
4. „Mihai Eminescu” National College, Bucharest;
5. „Ben Corlaciu” Secondary School, Groșii Țibleșului, Maramureș;
6. „Onisifor Ghibu” Theoretical High School, Cluj-Napoca;
7. „Petru Rareș” Secondary School, Chiajna, Ilfov;
8. „Tudor Vianu” National College of Informatics, Bucharest;
9. ,,Vasile Lovinescu” National College, Fălticeni, Suceava;
10. „Tudor Arghezi” Secondary School, Bucharest.

The 10 winning libraries will become living centres of knowledge and culture in their communities. The "Ten Libraries Rated 10" contest, launched by Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania, was supported by partners "Fischer English Hub", "Idea Papel", "Creator" Editorial House and "For You" Editorial House, as well as by individuals who donated books for 1st-12th grade students during the campaign.

Through this initiative, Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania aims to support their efforts and contribute to enriching the reading experience for all those involved, given that most school libraries in our country are in an unsatisfactory state, many of them being completely lacking. While there were 20,773 libraries in 1989, by the end of 2012 the number had halved to 10,386, and last year the number reached just 8,372.
