The Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation, scientific partner of the International Congress of Medical Students in Bucharest - a meeting point for the future of medicine and longevity research

The Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania is a scientific partner of one of the largest and most prestigious medical student events in Europe: the International Medical Students' Congress of Bucharest (IMSCB). The event, organized on 3-7 December by the Society of Medical Students of Bucharest and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Carol Davila", brings together over 850 participants - students, residents, young researchers and academics - in a marathon of scientific presentations, advanced workshops and academic sessions dedicated to the current frontiers of medicine.

Under the partnership, The Scientific Senate is challenging young people to step into the research area of the future: longevity science. Students are invited to propose innovative ideas and papers that explore the mechanisms of healthy life extension, chronic disease prevention and emerging approaches to medicine 3.0. The most valuable contribution presented at the Innovation Fair will be awarded a €1,000 grant by The Scientific Senate, which supports applied research and the training of a new generation of health innovators. Longevity is one of the strategic priorities of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania, which, in 2025, organized the first International Longevity Congress in Romania and South-East Europe.

The Scientific Senate will also be present at the "Scientific Fair" with its own research projects, giving young doctors an insight into the innovations developed in Romania: the national study "Longevity Map of Romania" and discoveries in the area of functional food, such as bread with anti-aging effects. In this way, the space becomes a place of dialog between emerging science and the generation that will shape medicine in the coming decades.

Internationally recognized for the quality of its scientific program, IMSCB brings to Bucharest professionals and researchers whose discoveries are changing the global medical paradigm. Among the distinguished guests are Prof. Thomas Gasser (Germany), winner of the Breakthrough Prize 2024, who is exploring revolutionary directions in the treatment of Parkinson's disease; Prof. Hiromi Sakai (Japan), creator of artificial blood technology; Prof. Pernilla Dahm Kähler (Sweden), author of the first robotic uterus transplant; Prof. Thamara Perera, expert in liver transplantation for organs initially considered unviable; Dr. Hani Al-Qadhi, who brings a rare perspective on war surgery. The applied dimension of the congress is complemented by Dr. Osama Mahmoud Al-Odat, specialized in sports traumatology, and the international educational component is reinforced by Zachary M. Murphy (USA), founder of the Ninja Nerd platform, which has changed the way generations of students learn medicine.

Through this partnership, The Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation marks a new stage in supporting academic excellence and medical innovation in Romania, contributing to the formation of a community of young professionals capable of leading medicine towards a healthier, smarter and longer life.
