International specialists in geriatrics and gerontology meet at the 16th National Congress of Geriatrics and Gerontology, at which The Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania is a scientific partner

The Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania has the honour of participating in the XVI National Congress of Geriatrics and Gerontology as a scientific partner, supporting research initiatives dedicated to healthy ageing. This year's edition is scheduled to take place from 23 to 26 October and marks the 50th anniversary of Professor Ana Aslan's induction into the Romanian Academy, a pioneering figure in the field of geriatrics and a symbol of Romanian efforts to promote a dignified and active old age. The event is organised this year by the Romanian Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics, headed by Prof. Dr. Gabriel Ioan Prada.

Ageing is now seen as a process that can be positively influenced by innovative therapies and metabolic solutions, offering new perspectives for a healthy life in old age. Together with leading professionals in geriatrics, gerontology and biogerontology from around the world, The Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation is helping to shape a future in which older people not only live longer, but enjoy a higher quality of life.

The Congress brings together eminent geriatricians and researchers from around the globe who have devoted their careers to the study of ageing. Among the distinguished guests are Prof. Mario Barbagallo (Italy), President of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics European Region, who will present a discussion on the current developments in the vaccination of the elderly; Prof. Timo Strandberg (Finland), who will present the EUROSAF study on atrial fibrillation in vomiting patients; and Prof. Giovanni Lamura (Italy), who will present a review on the reform of long-term care of the frail elderly.

Prof. Dr. Gabriel Ioan Prada, collaborative partner of The Scientific Senate's research projects, will highlight the importance of current research in combating the effects of ageing and promoting innovative approaches aimed at improving health in old age. From solutions for metabolic health and longevity, to nutritional challenges and chronic disease management, this year's Congress addresses topical issues for the entire scientific community.

The phenomenon of rapid global ageing has created a pressing need for the development of innovative strategies aimed at the prevention, treatment and enhancement of quality of life. The National Congress of Geriatrics and Gerontology represents an invaluable forum for international collaboration and the exchange of knowledge in this field. The Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation, through its research into the phenomenon of ageing, has aligned itself with the current standards and research practices in this field. The National Congress of Geriatrics and Gerontology will take place from 23-26 October at the Romanian Academy Library in Bucharest, in the Ion Heliade Rădulescu Amphitheatre.
