Nelu Avram, a physical education and sports teacher at "General Ioan Boeriu" Secondary School in Recea, Brasov, has been selected as a finalist in the "League of Exceptional Teachers" campaign, which is being conducted at the national level by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania.
Nelu Avram has managed to turn sports classes into an exciting and motivating experience for his students, instilling passion, courage and confidence. The students' desire to participate in these classes was so great that the teacher extended the activities with additional training sessions every Friday.
In a rural area where financial resources are often scarce, Nelu Avram has demonstrated that even students from rural communities can achieve excellence, participating and winning numerous awards in academic competitions and Olympiads. His students have also achieved remarkable results in shows such as NextStar and Romania's Got Talent, demonstrating that talent and dedication can overcome any obstacle.
Professor Nelu Avram is similarly gratified that his students are engaged with and knowledgeable about oina, Romania's national sport, thereby contributing to the maintenance of local sports traditions. One of his noteworthy accomplishments is the organisation of the "Ion Gavrilă Ogoranu Memorial Cross Marathon", now in its 13th iteration. This event is included in the Calendar of Extracurricular Activities at national and inter-county levels, attracting participants from diverse geographical regions within the country.
As a finalist of the League of Exceptional Teachers campaign, Nelu Avram receives well-deserved recognition for his efforts and dedication.
