The world champion in mathematics, in dialogue with experts in excellence education at Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania

David Anghel, world champion in mathematics and gold medal winner at the National Mathematics Olympiad, met today at Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania headquarters with excellence education expert and psychologist Gabriela Maalouf.

David, part of the "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" campaign, talked about his journey, how parents and teachers can contribute to the development of talent, innovation in excellence education and how we can support talented young people in Romania to reach their full potential.

Romania's young mathematical genius shared his remarkable experience in the world of international and national mathematics competitions. David Anghel detailed the notable differences between the two Olympiads, highlighting the challenges encountered in each. He provided a key insight into how national competitions can be improved to align with the standards and rigour of international Olympiads.

At this point, David has already accepted an offer from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he has been invited on a full scholarship and is due to arrive in the US in August.

David's next challenge is the Balkan Mathematics Olympiad in Bulgaria at the end of April. In 2023, the Romanian Olympian managed to get the top score in this competition, and this year he wants to repeat his previous result.
