Will humans be replaced by robots? Young innovators make their contribution to robotics in Romania's hottest competition, "Looking for the New Shakey".

The Robotics Contest "Looking for the New Shakey", organized by the Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania, reveals its finalists and awards its winners, on Thursday, July 13, 2023, starting at 10:00 am, at the Metropolis Theatre, in the Centenary Hall, 89 Mihai Eminescu Street. First edition of a competition - event
The Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania organised the first edition of the Robotics Competition "Looking for the New Shakey" from 26 May to 13 July. The competition was addressed to all robotics enthusiasts in Romania, regardless of age, and aimed to discover the most intelligent robots created in Romania and to encourage the development of new robots with practical applications.
The "Looking for the New Shakey" competition saw Romania's most talented young roboticists enter, including the team that won 1st place at the World Robotics Championship. We are excited by the number of participating teams and the originality of each robot. At the event you can see for the first time: robotic platforms for general use, autonomous submarine that collects waste from the deep sea, robots that provide video security, or that can be used for various industrial applications and many other surprises.
Robot Pepper, the surprise host
The host of the event will be Pepper, the first humanoid robot in Romania. Among those attending the event are: Ana-Maria Stancu, founder of RoboHub, Board Member of euRobotics, CEO of Bucharest Robots, Dănuț Eremenco, CEO of MGT Educațional, Răzvan Drumeși, President of the Students League of the Faculty of Automatics and Computers, Vlad Baiceanu representative of the National Institute for Research and Development in Computer Science Bucharest, Codruța Vitan from the School Inspectorate for Institutional Management sector 4, Daniela Lică, Director of the Prahova Centre of Excellence.
