Roland Petrean, European computer genius, joins the "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" campaign of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania

Roland Petrean, the most accomplished high school computer science student in Europe, originally from Zalău, persists in making history, both for himself and for Romania. A 10th grade student at the "Silvania" National High School in Zalău, Roland recently joined the national campaign "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development", organised by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania. The campaign's objective is to provide support for excellence and to promote young Romanian elite who can contribute to the transformation and development of the country.

Roland Petrean demonstrated remarkable proficiency in computer science at an early age, achieving outstanding results. In the current year, he was awarded the gold medal at the European and Balkan Junior Computer Olympiad, which saw 98 competitors from 25 countries participate. His exemplary performance was pivotal in enabling Romania to occupy the highest position in the medals ranking, thereby becoming the sole nation to have secured gold in all eight editions of the European Computer Olympiad. Roland Petrean, a young individual, was able to qualify for the National Computer Science Team for the second consecutive year, attaining the highest score in the selection process.

In October, Roland achieved another historic milestone when he was named the best in the world at the international Cloud Flight Coding Contest. This large-scale competition, which brought together over 3,000 coders from more than 30 global locations, saw Roland solve complex tasks in record time, outperforming thousands of other participants.

Roland Petrean's performances have attracted considerable attention. Florin Morar, the principal of Silvania National High School in Zalău, has described him as "a true genius". This recognition emerges against the backdrop of a period of intense activity, including the recent Tenaris University award for outstanding merit.

At the time of writing, Roland is participating in the 12th edition of the Romanian Master of Informatics, held at the "Tudor Vianu" National College in Bucharest. This represents a further challenge that matches his considerable talent.

The "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" campaign, launched by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania, provides a platform for exceptional young people who want to contribute to the development of society and inspire future generations.

Roland Petrean is not merely a champion of international computer science competitions; he is a symbol of hope and Romania's potential. His exceptional results and involvement in national projects of impact demonstrate that change is possible and that the future can be shaped by young people with ambition, passion and vision.
