In a momentous occasion for Romania, the 2Space team, comprising 30 gifted students from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, represented our country at the most significant international rocket competition, the Spaceport America Cup, held in the USA. This marks the inaugural participation of a Romanian team in such a large-scale event, signifying a pivotal advancement for the country's innovation and technological advancement.
The members of the 2Space team have joined the "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" campaign, which is organised at the national level by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for Romania's Development. The objective of this campaign is to support young talents and to promote excellence in various fields, including science and technology.
2Space is also the inaugural team of students in Southeast Europe to design, construct, and launch a rocket to an altitude of nearly 9,000 meters. Their remarkable accomplishment exemplified the aerospace capabilities and ingenuity of young Romanians.
The rocket constructed by the 2Space team for the competition in America is a notable achievement, exceeding 3 meters in length and capable of reaching an altitude of up to 10,000 meters at supersonic speed.
