For the first time in Romania, The Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania organizes a scientific conference entirely dedicated to biohacking - a topic increasingly present in international debates on health, technology and medicine of the future.
The event, titled „Biohacking: the future of longevity medicine or dangerous experiment?", will take place on April 9, 2025, starting at 17:00, and will be streamed live on the Dan Voiculescu Foundation's YouTube channel and Facebook page. Those who wish to attend can register on fundațiadanvoiculescu.ro.
The concept of biohacking proposes interventions aimed at optimising bodily functions, decelerating the ageing process and enhancing physical and cognitive performance. Despite its growing popularity among entrepreneurs and international communities, the practice of biohacking is met with a degree of skepticism within the scientific community due to the absence of comprehensive regulations and rigorous risk assessment frameworks.
The conference has been organised by the Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania, as part of a broad research project on emerging issues in the medicine of the future, in direct dialogue with experts in fields essential for long-term health.
The event shall be attended by a number of specialists in Romania and abroad, from the fields of medicine, biotechnology, psychology, nutrition and genetics. These experts shall provide a balanced and scientifically argued analysis of the potential, limits and implications of this phenomenon on the borderline between innovation and experimentation.
