On Wednesday 14 June 2007, at 11:00 a.m., during the press conference held at the Conference Hall of the Titulescu European Foundation, DAN VOICULESCU FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ROMANIA AWARD was launched, which aims to bring to light the life and work of a Romanian who truly deserves our gratitude. The prize is awarded annually for achievements with the greatest impact on the material and/or spiritual prosperity of Romania. The Romanian Academy - the highest scientific and cultural forum of the country - is responsible for the procedures of promotion of the Prize, collection of nominations, selection and nomination. The Prize is worth 300.000 RON and will be awarded from 2008 onwards, its rhythm being that of the academic cycle on 20 May each year, during a ceremony.
The day of the launch of the Award ended with a gala event organised at the Le Diplomate Hall, Hilton Bucharest, where a number of prominent personalities of Romanian society participated.
