Elena Dascălu, a teacher at the "Nifon Bălășescu" Gymnasium School in Tulcea, is a living example of passion and commitment to education. With a 42-year career behind her, Mrs Dascălu has not stopped even after retirement. At a difficult time for all of us, when the pandemic has radically changed the way we learn and interact, she chose to return to the classroom to continue to inspire and educate.
Even after her retirement, Elena Dascălu could not stay away from her students and her passion for learning. At the request of the school principal, she returned to the classroom, adapting to new technologies and the challenges of online learning. She set an example for her colleagues and students, proving that education is timeless and that a commitment to children never fades.
Many of her former students have gone on to have remarkable careers, and many of them remember Mrs. Dascălu with gratitude as someone who opened their horizons and instilled in them a love of learning. She was more than a teacher - she was a mentor, a guide and a friend.
Recently, Elena Dascălu was included in the "League of Exceptional Teachers" campaign, initiated by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania.
"It is more than appropriate to seek out and find people who still have something of quality to share. Because society is in great need of benchmarks, at least a few," said Elena Dascălu about the "League of Exceptional Teachers" campaign.
This campaign recognises the profound impact that Mrs Dascălu has had not only on her students, but on the whole community. If you know teachers who have inspired and motivated generations of students, encourage them to join the national League of Extraordinary Teachers campaign. Education is key to our development as a society, and outstanding teachers deserve recognition and support.
