A life dedicated to arts education: the story of teacher Veronica Bica, finalist of the national campaign "League of Exceptional Teachers"

Veronica Bica, teacher of plastic, visual and artistic education at the "Nikolaus Lenau" Theoretical High School in Timisoara, is a leading figure in the field of art education. With 17 years of teaching experience and a substantial professional and academic background, Veronica Bica has fostered creativity and talent among her students, serving as a constant source of inspiration for them. Currently, she is a finalist in the "League of Exceptional Teachers" campaign, run nationwide by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania. This is a well-deserved recognition of her exceptional contributions.

Veronica Bica is not only a dedicated educator but also a talented artist. Throughout her career, she has also taught at the Faculty of Art and Design in Timișoara, Department of Graphic Design, contributing to the training of future generations of artists. She has organised and participated in numerous exchanges, inter-school projects, exhibitions and openings, creating a vibrant and stimulating educational environment.

One example of her dedication to both education and the arts is her role in coordinating the cultural programme EEA 691, entitled "Culture along the water". This was carried out in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Timișoara. The project was completed with an impressive exhibition and the publication of the volume "Urban Cultural Heritage".

Veronica Bica is a prominent figure in the artistic community of Timișoara, having been involved in various initiatives of the Contrasens Cultural Association and participating in the "Micro - Folie" programme of the National Art Museum in Timișoara. Through these endeavours, she has facilitated access to culture for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, thereby demonstrating her dedication to inclusion and cultural education.

Professor Bica has mentored numerous gifted students, who have attained remarkable success in national and county cultural and artistic competitions. Her own work and that of her students have been showcased in solo and group exhibitions in the country and abroad, including participation in esteemed events such as the International Biennial of Small Engravings and Sardines Festas Lisboa.
