The finals of the national campaign "League of Exceptional Teachers", organised by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania, are taking place in Romania. One of the finalists is Maria Andrada Muntean, a dedicated primary school teacher who teaches at the Secondary School No. 9 "Nicolae Orghidan" in Brasov. Maria Andrada Muntean, with eight years of teaching experience, commenced her career with a profound aspiration to shape character and contribute to a more just and equitable world.
Maria Andrada Muntean was an active participant in Erasmus+ projects, contributing significantly to the development of her students' intercultural competence. A noteworthy example is the project "Children Voices for a New Human Space," which was concluded with the publication of an extensive research paper. The project facilitated the development of key competencies, including tolerance, empathy, and collaboration. As part of this project, Maria Andrada collaborated with other researchers to develop a teacher training course and research paper.
Her commitment to professional development is further demonstrated by her attendance at numerous national and international training courses. The aforementioned courses have enabled her to implement innovative pedagogical approaches and STEM applications in the classroom, thereby stimulating students' curiosity and critical thinking. Maria Andrada is a flexible educator, receptive to new methodologies and committed to implementing pedagogical approaches that are responsive to students' diverse learning needs.
In addition to her role as a teacher, Maria Andrada is engaged in a number of extracurricular activities and social and environmental projects. In this way, she contributes to the development of civic and environmental awareness among students, teaching them the importance of environmental and community responsibility.
Furthermore, the success of her students can be attributed in part to the supplementary tuition and remedial classes that the school provides. The classes are designed to support both high-achieving and struggling pupils, with the objective of ensuring that every child receives the attention and support they need to reach their full potential.
Maria Andrada Muntean is the administrator of the „Profesori înțelepți, copii isteți" ("Wise Teachers, Smart Kids") page, which serves as a repository of information and inspiration for educators across the country. This initiative serves to illustrate once again her dedication to education and her willingness to share her knowledge and experiences with other teachers, thereby contributing to the development of a strong and innovative educational community.
As a finalist in the League of Exceptional Teachers campaign, Maria Andrada Muntean is duly acknowledged for her endeavours and serves as an exemplary role model for teachers across the country. The general public is invited to cast their vote for their preferred teachers until 18 July at vot.fundatiadanvoiculescu.ro, thus supporting excellence in education.
