Thursday 16 August 2007 at 3.00 pm - the second visit to the National Museum of Natural History "Grigore Antipa" took place for the children institutionalized in the "Robin Hood" Foster Care Centre sector 4.
The project "Holiday through Knowledge" is part of the programme "Closer to Them" - representing the social pillar of DAN VOICULESCU FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ROMANIA.
The aim of the project is to develop some alternative leisure activities for children institutionalized in care centres. Through these actions the aim is to integrate these children into society and to offer them opportunities to learn new areas.
The project is aimed at disadvantaged children aged between 7 and 18, institutionalised in the "Robin Hood" Foster Care Centre sector 4, with good results in school or who have shown an inclination for a particular field of activity.
The activities of the project consist of accompanying children, divided into age groups, to various museums, institutions, and involving them in recreational programmes during the month of August.
Four volunteers from the Youth Parliament took part in this action to visit the National Museum of Natural History "Grigore Antipa".
Partners in this project are the "Robin Hood" Foster Care Centre sector 4, the "Grigore Antipa" National Museum of Natural History, the National Museum of History, the National Military Museum, the Astronomical Observatory, the Bucharest Zoo, the Youth Parliament.
