In contemporary society, there is an increasing prevalence of academic, social and digital pressures on children and adolescents. Consequently, the development of emotional skills has become as important as academic development. Research has demonstrated that adolescents who learn to regulate their emotions from an early age tend to exhibit greater emotional balance, demonstrate enhanced academic performance and cultivate more positive interpersonal relationships.
Emotional skills such as empathy, self-control and conflict management equip young people with the tools necessary to navigate the challenges of everyday life and form healthy relationships with those around them.
In addition to the personal benefits thereof, the ability to manage emotions has also been shown to prepare young people for professional success. In a world where the workplace is increasingly oriented towards collaboration, communication and resilience, emotional skills are fundamental for success in the job market. Young people who learn to recognise and manage their emotions are better equipped to cope with stress, change and challenges in their professional and personal lives.
In order to respond to the emotional needs of children and adolescents, the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania offers the World of Emotions Workshop, an online course for children aged 10 to 14. The workshop, which is coordinated by educational counsellor Mădălina Enea, provides a safe and interactive environment where children can learn how to recognise and manage their emotions.
The workshop employs a variety of interactive methodologies, including hands-on activities and discussion forums, with the objective of facilitating the development of empathy, assertive communication and conflict resolution skills in children. Participants will acquire the ability to articulate their thoughts and feelings without hesitation, to manage their feelings of anxiety and to establish positive relationships with others.
