Record after record at 16 for Ștefania Uță - the most promising athlete in Romania, enrolled in the "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" campaign of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation

Ștefania Uță is a young woman who is making a significant impact in the field of athletics, establishing herself as one of the most promising athletes in Romania. At the tender age of 16, she has already become a prominent figure in the realm of athletics. Recently, Stefania has joined the initiative "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" spearheaded by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for Romania's Development.

At the age of 12, Ștefania first encountered a running track and commenced her athletic training. Following years of rigorous training and dedication, Ștefania emerged as a world leader, having secured the top position in the Under 18 Ranking in the 400-meter hurdles. Consequently, Stefania concluded the previous season ranked first in the world in the U18 400m flat and second in the world in the U20 400m hurdles. Stefania's success can be attributed to the careful and inspiring guidance of her coach, Alina Enescu. Under Enescu's tutelage, Ștefania has surpassed expectations and set new standards for her athletic performance.

The year 2023 proved to be a remarkable one for Ștefania. At the tender age of 15, she achieved the remarkable feat of becoming a senior national champion in the 400-meter hurdles. A year later, at the European Under-20 Championships in Jerusalem, she was awarded the gold medal, thereby confirming her status as an elite athlete. In May of this year, at the 2024 Challenger Continental Tour 2024 seniors' event, Ștefania achieved her most impressive performance of the year, with an astonishing time of 57 seconds and 74 hundredths.

Her performances did not cease there. At the Senior Balkan Championships in Istanbul, Ștefania achieved first place in the 400-meter race with a time of 54.6 seconds, thereby demonstrating her unquestionable dominance in European athletics. This triumph occurred just days after she had won the Under-20 competition, thereby further solidifying her position as a leader in her sport.

The objective of Ștefania, a promising athlete, is to participate in the Olympic Games. With each race, she is making progress towards this goal. On Saturday, 22 June, Ștefania will participate in the U18 National Championship Finals in Bucharest, where she will be hoping to add another impressive victory to her already considerable achievements.

Besides her successful sports career, Ștefania is also an exemplary student. She finished 8th grade with an overall average of 9.92 and is now studying at "Mircea cel Bătrân" National College. She recently joined the campaign "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development", organized by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for Romania's Development.

According to the European Athletics Federation, Ștefania is ranked 51st in the all-time European ranking of the women's 400-meter hurdles with 1113 points. With such impressive achievements at such a young age, her future in athletics looks extremely promising.

Alexandra Ștefania Uță has all the necessary qualities to follow in the footsteps of Ionela Tîrlea, who brought countless medals to Romania in the 400m hurdles, including two European titles and an Olympic silver.

In a sporting world where every second counts, Ștefania Uță continues to break barriers and set new standards. With her ambition and talent, Ștefania dreams of the moment when she will stand on the Olympic podium, bringing a new medal for Romania.

The "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" campaign was initiated with the intention of fostering national unity and identity. Its objective is to highlight the accomplishments of Romania's most distinguished children and young people, who have achieved renown on a national and international scale through their passion, dedication, and talent.

The 100 young people who have brought great credit to Romania and who have distinguished themselves through their exemplary performances will be included in the inaugural catalogue of Romanian excellence, which will be launched by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania at the end of this year.
