A group of six young innovators, part of the "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" campaign, will present their innovation at a workshop organised by the Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania (FDVDR) at the International Symposium "Food you Trust". The even takes place today, 29 March, 14:00, in the Senate Hall of the POLITEHNICA University of Science and Technology Bucharest.
As part of the International Symposium "Food you Trust", the FDVDR Scientific Senate, in partnership with the Food Research Institute R&D, is hosting the workshop "The Competitive Advantage of Technological Innovation". The GrowWise device, developed by six promising young people: Augustin Babii, Bogdan Brăileanu, Briana Filimon, Alexandra-Maria Morar, Alexandru Pop and Victor-George Sabo, will also be presented. This presentation is part of "Inovaliment", the FDVDR programme dedicated to food innovation.
GrowWise is an innovative solution in Romanian agriculture, being a complex system that uses sensors and algorithms to monitor soil and plant health in real time. The device allows farmers to obtain detailed information on moisture, temperature and levels of essential nutrients, facilitating efficient resource management and reducing environmental impact.
"Over the past seven decades, the nutritional quality of fruit and vegetables has deteriorated considerably. A major cause of this is the lack of use of fertilisers, which supplement the nutrient supply of the soil. Using the GrowWise device, the user receives real-time alerts and personalised recommendations on how to improve the quality of the growing environment. Thus, by using GrowWise technology, farmers can save resources such as water and fertiliser, while optimising the quality and quantity of their crop," explains Alexandra-Maria Morar.
The presentation of the GrowWise device at the Food you Trust Symposium underlines the continued effort of the FDVDR and the Scientific Senate to promote food research and innovation to address global challenges related to sustainability and food security. The special guest of the workshop is Prof. Univ. Dr. Gabriela Bahrim, Dean of the Faculty of Food Science and Engineering, who will contribute her expertise in the field.
FDVDR and the Scientific Senate reinforce through this project the constant support for innovation and sustainable development in Romania, underlining the vital role of young researchers in building a healthy and affordable food future for all. To support and promote the new generation of talented and innovative young people, the FDVDR has initiated the "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" campaign, an initiative to highlight and support the extraordinary potential of young people in our country.
