The Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania has announced its participation in the celebrations commemorating National Culture Day. The foundation will be providing support for exceptional initiatives in educational and cultural institutions throughout the country. Following an open call for proposals, numerous projects have been submitted by schools and kindergartens for the purpose of celebrating Romanian values and traditions. Of these, four projects were selected for their originality and the manner in which they integrated cultural heritage into the educational process. The Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania will provide participants with interactive materials, including books and educational games.
Oltea Doamna Secondary School in Oradea saw its students showcase their artistic talent by creating calligrams inspired by important cultural landmarks of Romania. The youngsters combined words with visual art, and the final works will go beyond the borders of the country and will be presented to some of the education personalities attending a major event in Dubai. Furthermore, within the "Oltea Doamna" educational framework, students will animate iconic edifices and geographical features that are representative of Romanian culture through the medium of "Romanian Traditions in Minecraft". This initiative amalgamates the students' enthusiasm for gaming with the exploration of local traditions and literary works, thereby proffering a contemporary viewpoint on the national cultural heritage.
Another noteworthy initiative emanates from the Secondary School "Nicolae Balcescu" in Târgu Mureș, where students will present a distinctive performance entitled "Ars Gratia Artis" in the Ariel Municipal Theater. This event will convene the entire Waldorf community, offering an artistic program replete with emotion and diversity. On stage, parents and children will engage in a collaborative drama, dance and music performance, underscoring the pivotal connection between generations. The performance is accompanied by an exhibition of traditional arts and crafts, which serves to highlight the richness of Romanian values.
The fourth initiative supported by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania focuses on pre-school children from the "Happy Planet Kids" Kindergarten. The children participated in a guided activity at the National Library of Romania, specifically in the "Apolodor of Labrador" Toy Library. The interactive readings and exploration of Romanian music, including the listening of Enescu's compositions and the exploration of basic instruments such as tambourines and xylophones, are designed to engage and enrich the young participants. Furthermore, the young participants will have the opportunity to construct their own violins and express themselves through dance, thereby demonstrating that a fascination with culture and literature can be cultivated from a very early age.
The Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania is an institution that is convinced of the transformative potential of education and culture in shaping individual character and fostering community cohesion. By providing support for these initiatives, the Foundation reinforces its commitment to bring national values closer to young people in a manner that is both creative and interactive, and which is adapted to their needs and interests. National Culture Day thus becomes a occasion to celebrate the essence of what defines us as a people, transcending geographical boundaries.
