The Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania is organising the national campaign "Exceptional Teachers League", edition 2025, a flagship project aimed at recognising outstanding teachers across the country and highlighting the positive impact they have on education in Romania.
In an educational context under pressure - with young graduates leaving the system, an ageing workforce, and inequalities between urban and rural areas - this project highlights teachers who are overcoming constraints and transforming the act of education into a meritocratic experience.
Within the educational sector in Romania, specifically kindergarten, primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, there exists a notable presence of educators who have the capacity to profoundly impact the lives of their students. The Exceptional Teachers League has been established to recognise those educators who have demonstrated an exceptional capacity to inspire, motivate and create tangible opportunities for their students. These individuals may be found in all levels of education, from primary to university. They may be found in any field, from those who innovate in the field of literature to those who provide support to children in difficult situations. The campaign seeks to recognise those individuals who are shaping the future of education in Romania.
The campaign is open to nominations from students, parents, fellow teachers and teachers themselves. The application form is available online at fundatiadanvoiculescu.ro. A panel of experts will assess all applications using a set of rigorous criteria, including the following: the innovative nature of the teaching methods employed, the academic performance of the students, the involvement of the students in extracurricular activities, and the support provided to children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The top 20 teachers will be rewarded for their efforts and achievements. The top three placings will receive financial prizes of 30,000 lei, 20,000 lei and 10,000 lei, respectively. Furthermore, access to educational resources and training opportunities will be granted to the finalists, thereby facilitating the pursuit of educational excellence.
The application period will remain open until the conclusion of May. This will be followed by the selection phase, during which a team of experts will evaluate the applications. In June, the public will be able to vote online for the finalists. The winners will be announced in July at an event celebrating Romania's best teachers.
The Exceptional Teachers League campaign is more than a competition. It's a movement that supports excellence and innovation in education, giving deserving teachers a national platform of recognition.
