The Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania concludes the year 2024 by consolidating its position as a leader in the promotion of excellence in education and research. With a portfolio of over 50 projects, campaigns and events organised or carried out in educational partnerships, FDVDR has had a significant impact at the national level, benefiting tens of thousands of participants from all regions of the country.
This year, the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania supported the integration of innovation in education, adaptation to new technologies, identification and promotion of exceptional young people.
Educational programmes and projects administered by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania have attracted tens of thousands of participants from across the country. A total of 33,000 pupils, teachers, students and specialists have participated directly in the Foundation's initiatives, including the "Preschool Olympiads" with over 18,000 children enrolled, the "Aristotle" Interdisciplinary Competition with over 3,000 pupils, the FDVDR Summer School and the FDVDR courses program with hundreds of participants at each edition.
A flagship initiative of 2024 was the national campaign "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development", the objective of which was to identify and promote exceptional young people who had achieved outstanding feats in the fields of culture, innovation, education and sport. The campaign ran throughout the year, with the stories of these young people being presented to the public, with a view to inspiring a whole generation to aspire to excellence.
It is evident that national campaigns, including "10 libraries rated 10", "School of the Future", "Preschool Olympiads", "Aristotle" contest and "Exceptional Teachers League", have contributed to the recognition of valuable teachers and talented students. Furthermore, initiatives such as "Longevity Map of Romania" or SAB Scholarship have positioned the Dan Voiculescucu Foundation for the Development of Romania as an active and involved actor in the emerging fields of innovation and technology. WEBDIDACTICA conferences and Edu News initiatives have also provided valuable know-how resources for the professional development of teachers.
The Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania has continued to promote national cultural values through a number of notable initiatives, including the production of the show "Eminescu, the builder of the Romanian language". This show, which was broadcast on National Culture Day on TVR Cultural and TVR International, highlighted the life and work of the national poet, with Marius Bodochi in the cast. On 11 March, the Foundation presented the production "Crai nou. Viața lui Ciprian Porumbescu" at the National Theater "Ion Luca Caragiale" in Bucharest, coinciding with National Thanksgiving Day. This production was subsequently broadcast on TVR Cultural and TVR International, and included in the Ministry of Education's supplementary educational platform educred.ro.
Educational partnerships and strategic collaborations
As an educational partner, the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania has contributed to various projects and offered prizes to encourage excellence and innovation among young people in Romania and abroad.
During the year, the Foundation has strengthened its partnerships with institutions, non-commercial organisations and reference actors in the field of education and innovation, including the Ministry of Education, the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, the National Institute for Nuclear Physics and Nuclear Engineering, and National Geographic Learning, the National Theatre "I.L. Caragiale" in Bucharest, the National Library, the Romanian Academy, the Bucharest Auto Salon & Accessories, TVR Cultural, TVR International, the League of Romanian Students Abroad and the Union of Romanian Students.
These collaborations have amplified the visibility and impact of the projects, positioning the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania as a reliable actor in support of excellence in education and innovation in Romania.
