In the contemporary workplace, characterised by rapid technological transformations, a pivotal skill for the future success of generations is the adept management of emotions and the cultivation of effective interpersonal relationships. In recent years, there has been an observable increase in the influence of digitisation and artificial intelligence. Consequently, the capacity to collaborate effectively with others, effectively manage stress, and comprehend one's own emotions is regarded as paramount.

According to a report by the World Economic Forum, by 2025, emotional and social skills will be among the most sought-after skills in the labour market. These include empathy, resilience, the ability to communicate effectively and work in diverse teams. While technology will take over many of the repetitive tasks, individual success will depend on the ability to interact with others and adapt quickly to change.

It is unfortunate that the cultivation of such competencies is frequently disregarded within conventional educational curricula. Despite their paramount importance for both professional and personal accomplishment, formal education tends to prioritise technical expertise over emotional intelligence. Nevertheless, there exist remedies that address this discrepancy, namely courses designed specifically to foster emotional competencies.

How can the FDVDR course help them build emotional resilience?

In order to assist young people in the development of these essential skills, the Dan Voiculesulescu Foundation for the Development of Romania offers the Emotional Skills Development Course for the Labour Market, which is aimed at teenagers aged between 14 and 19. The course is taught by Maria Coman, who is a psychologist and journalist for Antena 3 CNN, and its aim is to prepare young people for the social and emotional challenges they will face during their careers.

Participants will learn how to manage their emotions in stressful situations, how to build healthy interpersonal relationships and how to develop resilience skills that will enable them to cope with difficulties in their professional life. These skills will be beneficial for the job market but also for their success in their personal lives.
