The most awaited conference organized by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania: Webdidactica - "The jobs of the future: adapting education to the labour market"

The accelerated pace of change in the labour market gives rise to a pivotal question: to what extent are today's children and young people equipped to adapt to the jobs that will exist in 10, 20 or even 30 years' time? As a consequence of the increasing automation and digitisation of work, certain occupations are becoming obsolete. However, new fields are emerging, some of which are not yet fully understood and require different skills and competencies than those currently taught in schools. The Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania addresses this vital issue and provides a platform for dialogue between experts in education, economics, technology and the labour market, with concrete solutions for the development of Romania to adapt the education system.

Participants at the Webdididactica Conference, organized by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania on October 30, 2024, will debate an issue facing education systems around the world: "Jobs of the future: adapting education to the labor market".

Among the guests at the conference are education specialists and human resources experts who will analyze and debate the outlook for the labor market, focusing on the role of education in preparing young people for the future. At the conference:

  • Prof. Ioana Stoica, physics teacher at the National Informatics College "Tudor Vianu" in Bucharest and coordinator of the winning team of the NASA Space Settlement Design competition, will provide an international perspective on the skills needed for the future;
  • Pro-rector of the University of Bucharest, Prof. Prof. Dr. Lucian Ciolan, expert in educational policies, will present recent studies on the impact of technological change on education and emerging professions;
  • Răzvan Dumitru, sociologist and social anthropologist, will identify the professions that are most threatened with extinction at the moment;
  • Anca Tamaș, labor market expert, will present updated data and statistics on emerging occupations and the skills required in the next 20 years;
  • Bogdan Badea, CEO eJobs, will detail current trends in recruitment and what skills employers are looking for in today's young people;

In light of the conference's findings, a comprehensive guide, entitled "A Guide to the Jobs of the Future", will be developed. The document will set forth specific recommendations for the introduction of new subjects into the school curriculum, based on an analysis of the skills required by the future job market. The "Future Jobs Inventory" will include principal recommendations for the success of young people in a world at the frontier between humanity and technology.
