Exceptional Teachers Gala, one of this year's most important educational events organized by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania, brought together teachers who add value to education in Romania and have innovated the education system, together with high officials and supporters. During this prestigious ceremony, which took place on the stage of the Metropolis Theatre in Bucharest, on Thursday 18 July, the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania announced the winners of the national campaign "Exceptional Teachers League", which recognized and celebrated excellence in education.
Ionica Nedelcu, an exemplary educator who has achieved notable success in both her academic and athletic pursuits despite the lack of a gymnasium at her educational institution, has been recognised for her contemporary pedagogical approaches and the positive impact she has had on her students. The second-place accolade was bestowed upon Avram Nelu, lauded for his ingenious pedagogical techniques and active engagement within the academic community. Third place was awarded to Daniela Ceredeev, a distinguished educator, commended for her endeavors to transform education into an exhilarating and invaluable experience for her students.
The finalists of the national campaign "Exceptional Teachers League" were selected by an evaluation committee made up of specialists in excellence in education and journalists promoting quality education. The final ranking was then determined by public voting, with a total of 250,000 online votes cast on the campaign's voting platform.
The Exceptional Teachers Gala brought together not only the finalists of the campaign, but also senior education officials, public personalities and academics. In their speeches, the officials emphasized the crucial role of teachers in training young people and building a better future for Romania. The event was an opportunity to underline the need to support and promote excellence in education and to recognize the tireless work and dedication of outstanding teachers.

The awarding of the winners was accompanied by the awarding of substantial merit scholarships to support the continuation of the educational efforts of the awarded teachers. Ionica Nedelcu, Avram Nelu and Daniela Ceredeev are true examples of excellence and dedication, and their public recognition is an important step in the appreciation and valorization of Romanian teachers. All finalist teachers were chosen for their innovation, dedication and positive impact on the Romanian education system. Their efforts have transformed lives and inspired generations. The 1st place winner received a merit scholarship worth RON 30,000 and an educational camp in the summer of 2024, the 2nd and 3rd place finalists a scholarship worth RON 20,000 and RON 10,000 respectively, and a Samsung tablet each. All the other finalists received educational materials, Kindle readers and encyclopedias, provided by the partners of the Exceptional Teachers League campaign - Fischer International Publishing House and Litera Publishing House.
