Maria-Louisa van Staden achieves the rare performance of compressing excellence into a fulminating career path. A student in the 11th grade of the National Music College "George Enescu" in Bucharest, in the piano class of Professor Raluca Iordachi, Maria is today one of the most powerful names of the new generation of Romanian pianists with international visibility. At only 13 years old, Maria-Louisa van Staden was admitted to the prestigious Schola Cantorum in Paris, France, being promoted directly to the second year of her studies - a rare recognition of her artistic level. Under the guidance of Maestro Maurizio Moretti, she obtained the Diploma Superiore with the congratulations of the international jury at the age of only 15, and her performance continued naturally with her admission to the Master in Virtuosité of the same institution, which she successfully completed in 2025, at the age of only 17.

2025 marks a major milestone in Maria-Louisa van Staden's career. The pianist has won three major international first prizes, including at competitions in Italy and Vienna. At the 7th Vienna New Year's Concert International Music Competition, she won first prize for solo piano and first prize for Beethoven's Concerto No. 3 for piano and orchestra, and was awarded the Wiener Klassik Award for the best performance of a Viennese classical concerto - a landmark recognition in the capital city of classical music. Her value was also confirmed by the selection of Maria by Maestro Cristian Măcelaru for the masterclass held during the George Enescu International Festival 2024, a validation coming from one of the most important Romanian conductors of the moment. For her exceptional performances and for the way she represents Romania on the major international stages, Maria-Louisa van Staden was included in the national campaign "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development", 2025 edition, run by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania.

Maria's international career began when she was only 8 years old, on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall in London, after winning first prize in a prestigious international competition. Since then, her artistic career has taken her to some of the most important concert stages in Europe, from Vienna (Kaisersaal, Musikverein, Billrothhaus, Ehrbar Saal) and Salzburg (Wiener Saal Mozarteum) to Hamburg (ElbPhilharmonie), Berlin, Brussels (Centre for Fine Arts), Amsterdam (Klassiek op het Amstelveld), Rome (Auditorium Parco della Musica), Barcelona and Girona, Paris (Sala César Franck), Tarnow and Warsaw, and in Romania - on the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum, where she gave a sold-out recital.

At the age of 13, Maria-Louisa van Staden made her orchestral debut, performing Beethoven's Concerto No. 3 with the Tarnow Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Masahi Katayama. A year later, she was again invited to play Chopin's Concerto No 2 with the same orchestra, confirming a maturity of interpretation rarely seen at this age. Her record includes more than 115 national and international prizes, 51 of which are first prizes and trophies, obtained at elite competitions in Vienna, Salzburg, London, Rome, Rome, Brussels, Spain and Romania. At the Carles & Sofia International Piano Competition, Maria won the "Golden Hands" trophy, as well as prizes for the best interpretation of works by Chopin and Liszt. A symbolic moment in the recognition of her talent took place at the Stage4Kids Festival in Hamburg, where she was named best participant, receiving a portrait painted especially for her by Romanian-Danish artist Cornelia Tae and an invitation to perform a recital at the legendary Carnegie Hall in New York.

Maria's story is not just about talent and awards, but about discipline, courage and an artistic vision that transcends biological age. It's the story of a young woman who has turned the piano into a cultural passport and who, from the world's great stages, says without words one sentence: Romania has a future - and it sounds magnificent.
