The Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania is organising the first Webdidactica conference in 2025, dedicated to a key issue for the country's economic future: "Financial education of youth - a solution for the development of Romania". The event will take place on Wednesday, 26 February 2025 at 18:00 and will be streamed online on the Foundation's YouTube channel.
With a financial literacy rate of just 8%, the lowest in Europe, Romania faces a paradox: a generation of young people who are innovative but extremely vulnerable to financial pitfalls. Lack of financial education leads to excessive debt, long-term economic difficulties and missed entrepreneurial opportunities. In this context, the Webdidactica conference aims to provide concrete solutions to improve young people's financial literacy.
The event will bring together experts in education, economics and technology to analyse the causes of this vulnerability and propose effective strategies to increase financial literacy among young people.Topics will include
- The impact of lack of financial education on the national economy;
- The importance of managing personal budgets since high school;
- The challenges of the digital age in relation to money management;
- Adapting the education system to new economic realities.
The debate will focus on the role of financial education in entrepreneurship. Speakers will explain why financial education is essential for entrepreneurial success. They will also present best practice models from countries such as Germany, Estonia and Singapore, where financial education is an integral part of the education system.
The audience, comprising students, teachers, parents and professionals, will have the opportunity to ask questions and contribute to the debate in real time. Participants will also be able to propose ideas for integrating financial education in schools, and the most inspiring suggestion will be rewarded with an e-book reader.
