Albert Vlădescu, a 14-year-old from Ploiești, has made a significant impact on the scientific and technological communities, having received numerous accolades at international invention and innovation fairs. Currently enrolled at "Mihai Viteazul" National College in Ploiești, Albert has joined the national campaign "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development," spearheaded by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania.
At the age when most teenagers are engaged in the process of identifying their areas of interest and capabilities, Albert developed a revolutionary invention: the Ion Thruster – Ion Wind Generator. This device, created entirely from parts sourced from his father's workshop, employs advanced electrostatic principles to generate propulsion without the need for moving mechanical parts. The device operates on a flow of plasma generated between two grids of opposite polarity, whereby the flow accelerates atoms, creating a stream of air or particles capable of moving a vehicle. Its performance is impressive not only in terms of its efficiency, but also in light of its potential to revolutionise the aeronautical and transportation industries.
In recent years, Albert has been the recipient of a considerable number of national and international awards. In 2023, he was awarded the Gold Medal at the "Traian Vuia" International Exhibition of Inventions and Innovations in Timișoara, a highly esteemed event held under the patronage of the University of Life Sciences "Regele Mihai" and attended by over 300 participants. In the current year, he was bestowed with a special distinction at Euroinvent, the continent's largest festival of inventiveness, held in Iași. Additionally, the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks (OSIM) bestowed upon the prodigy from Ploiești the inaugural plaque for a young inventor, a symbolic gesture in recognition of his exceptional abilities. Additionally, Albert was awarded the Gold Medal and the Diploma of Excellence from the National Institute for Research and Development in Chemistry and Petrochemistry (ICECHIM) in Bucharest, as well as the Diploma of Excellence from the National Institute for Research and Development in Optoelectronics (INOE) in Măgurele.
By enrolling in the "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" initiative, Albert Vlădescu has reaffirmed his commitment to contributing to the advancement of his country. Albert is not only a brilliant inventor but also an exemplar of perseverance, curiosity and passion. Having already acquired proficiency in two languages, English and German, he exemplifies the compatibility of academic excellence and innovation. Albert Vlădescu is becoming not only a symbol of Romanian talent but also a source of inspiration for young people aspiring to effect global change. The "100 Youngsters for Romania's Development" campaign provides him with an opportunity to continue to excel and inspire a new generation of leaders and innovators.
