The Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania awarded the first prize of the SAB 2024 Scholarship to the members of the Air Motion team during the Bucharest Auto Show (SAB) 2024. The prize, worth €5,000, was awarded for two inventions: the Air Motion pneumatic drive system and the SIAR vacuum wheel. The money will be used to refine the prototype of the car of the future, recognising Romanian innovation and vision for sustainable mobility. The winning team of young Romanian inventors has developed a revolutionary prototype of a car powered by compressed air that has the potential to redefine the global automotive industry. The first SAB 2024 grant was awarded in the presence of Professor Dan Voiculescu at the Bucharest Motor Show at Romexpo, which supports Romanian innovation.
Air Motion ,developed within the Rosmar H Invention Center Association, is notable not only for its green technology but also for its impressive performance. It is entirely devoid of fossil fuels and polluting batteries, and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 0.3 seconds. This remarkable technological advancement has also been acknowledged on an international scale, with the team having previously been awarded Gold at Euroinvent.
„The innovation resides in the displacement method, for which the company holds a patent. This is the only such patent in the world, and it is expected to prove the most efficient in the world.”, said Air Motion inventor Adrian Rosca.
The award from the Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania is a timely recognition of the need for greater state support for Romanian innovation. Despite the Romanian Government's commitment to investing over 3 billion lei in research and development in 2023 through the National Plan for Research-Development and Innovation (2022-2027), the funding allocated to such projects remains inadequate to fully support the innovative potential of young inventors.
